Weekly and bi-weekly service keeps your lawn clear all season. Because the leaves never pile up for long, they're still light and dry when we arrive, so each visit goes quickly.

One-time cleanups are scheduled near the end of the season, usually the very end of November or early December, after most trees have dropped their leaves. They're a good fit if you'd rather not keep up with the yard during November and want everything cleared at once before winter.

How Our Leaf Removal Works

  1. We blow the leaves out of the lawn, beds and corners and move them to the front yard.
  2. Our leaf vacuum truck picks them up at the curb. A large truck-mounted vacuum pulls the leaves straight off the curb line, which is much faster than raking and bagging.
  3. We haul everything away. No bags or piles are left behind for you to deal with.
  4. We blow off driveways, sidewalks and patios before we leave.

Why Weekly and Bi-Weekly Visits Take Less Time

Fresh leaves are light and dry, so we can blow them to the curb in minutes. Leaves that sit for weeks get soaked by rain or snow and mat down into the grass. Wet, matted leaves are heavy, stick to the lawn and often have to be worked loose before they'll move, which can take much longer.

Since cleanups are billed by the man-hour, regular visits often keep each cleanup shorter, and your lawn never sits under a smothering layer of leaves.

Fall Flower Bed Cleanups

Every leaf removal visit already includes blowing the leaves out of your landscape beds. A flower bed cleanup is a separate service with its own pricing: we deadhead and shape the perennials and shrubs that need it before winter. You can add a bed cleanup to any leaf removal option, or book it on its own if that's all you need.

Ornamental grasses: your choice. Many homeowners like to leave their ornamental grasses standing through winter for texture and interest in the yard. If you'd like them left up, we'll come back and cut them down during your spring cleanup (February through April). If you'd rather have them cut now, we'll take care of it during your fall cleanup.

How Fall Cleanups Are Priced

Fall cleanups are billed by the man-hour, based on the actual time our crew spends on your property. We don't quote flat prices for cleanups because no two are the same. The number of trees, the size of the yard and especially the weather all change how long a cleanup takes. Dry leaves after a sunny week can be cleared quickly. The same yard after a rain or an early snow can take much longer.

Billing by the hour means you only pay for the time your cleanup actually takes. Not a padded estimate built to cover a worst-case day.

How man-hours work. Our fall cleanup crews are usually two people, and sometimes we add a third to finish a big yard faster. Either way, you're billed for the total man-hours. For example, two crew members working 1.5 hours is 3 man-hours.

A rough budgeting guide. A basic one-time cleanup on a typical 5,000 sq ft lawn with normal tree cover, done when the leaves are dry and not right after rain or snow, takes a 2-person crew about 3 man-hours in total. That's a budget of around $250 to $350. Please use this only as a starting point. The number of trees, how long the leaves have been sitting, rain, snow and how many beds need cleaning can all make the real time longer or shorter.

What's in your estimate. Every fall cleanup estimate includes all three options (weekly, bi-weekly and one-time) side by side, so you can pick what fits your yard and budget. Flower bed cleanup is listed as a separate line item that you can add to any leaf removal option. If a bed cleanup is all you need, you can book it on its own.

Ways to keep your cleanup time down:

  • Choose weekly or bi-weekly service so leaves never pile up and get wet.
  • Move patio furniture, decorations and hoses out of the way before we arrive.
  • Unlock gates or let us know how to get into the backyard.

Why Fall Leaf Removal Matters for Your Lawn

  • Leaves block sunlight when your lawn needs it most. Fall is when cool-season grass builds roots and stores energy for winter. A layer of leaves shades the grass and cuts that off, which works against the deep roots we build all season.
  • Wet leaves invite disease. Leaves left on the lawn trap moisture against the grass. Under snow, that can lead to snow mold and dead patches in spring.
  • Leaf piles shelter pests. Matted leaves give voles, mice and insects a protected place to spend the winter.
  • A cleaner start in spring. Lawns that go into winter clear of leaves green up more evenly in spring and need less repair.
  • Curb appeal. A clean yard and beds look better all winter long.

Pair Your Cleanup With These Fall Services

  • Fertilizing & Weed Control: our October/November biosolid winterizer feeds the roots over winter. Clearing the leaves first helps it reach the soil.
  • Aeration & Overseeding: opens up compacted clay soil so roots can grow deeper.
  • Snow & Ice Removal: once the leaves are done, our crews switch to snow.
  • Christmas Light Installation: get the lights up while we're already there.
  • Spring Cleanup: we'll come back in February, March or April to cut down ornamental grasses and get the beds ready for the season.

Fall cleanup spots fill quickly once the leaves start dropping, and snow can end the season early. Request a free estimate online or call (402) 328-9679 to get on the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does leaf removal cost in Lincoln, NE?

Yardworx bills fall cleanups by the man-hour, based on the actual time spent on your property. We don't give flat prices because every yard is different and the weather changes how long a cleanup takes. As a rough budget, a basic one-time cleanup on a typical 5,000 sq ft lawn with normal tree cover usually runs around $250 to $350, as long as it isn't right after rain or snow. Your actual cost depends on your yard and the weather. Weekly or bi-weekly service usually keeps each visit shorter.

  • How long does a fall leaf cleanup take?

A basic one-time cleanup on a typical 5,000 sq ft lawn with normal tree cover takes a 2-person crew about 3 man-hours in total (about 1.5 hours on site), or roughly $250 to $350, when the leaves are dry and not right after rain or snow. That's only a rough guide. Wet or matted leaves, heavy tree cover and lots of landscape beds can add time.

  • How many visits are in weekly or bi-weekly leaf removal?

Weekly service is usually 4 to 5 visits, and bi-weekly service is usually 3 visits. Either way, we keep coming until you tell us you're done for the season.

  • What's included in my fall cleanup estimate?

Your estimate shows all three options (weekly, bi-weekly and one-time leaf removal) so you can choose. Flower bed cleanup is a separate line item you can add to any of them.

  • What's the difference between a fall cleanup and leaf removal?

At Yardworx, leaf removal clears the leaves from your lawn and hauls them away. That includes blowing the leaves out of your landscape beds. A flower bed cleanup is a separate service with its own pricing, where we deadhead and shape perennials and shrubs before winter. You can add it to any leaf removal option.

  • When do you do fall leaf removal?

November and December, until snow makes outdoor work impossible. One-time cleanups are usually scheduled at the very end of November or early December, after most of the leaves have fallen.

  • Should I choose weekly, bi-weekly or a one-time cleanup?

Choose weekly if you have a lot of trees and want a clean lawn all fall. Choose bi-weekly for a moderate amount of leaves. Choose a one-time cleanup if you don't mind leaves through November and want one cleanup before winter.

  • Why does a one-time cleanup take longer?

Leaves that sit for weeks get wet from rain or snow and mat down into the grass. Wet, matted leaves are heavy and have to be worked loose, so they take much longer to remove than fresh, dry leaves.

  • What do you do with the leaves?

We blow them to the curb, vacuum them up with our leaf vacuum truck and haul them away. Nothing is left behind.

  • Do I need to bag my leaves?

No. We handle everything, from blowing the leaves out of the yard to hauling them away.

  • Do you clean out flower beds in the fall?

Yes. Leaf removal always includes blowing the leaves out of your beds. A flower bed cleanup is a separate service, priced separately, where we deadhead and shape perennials and shrubs before winter.

  • Can I book just a flower bed cleanup?

Yes. Bed cleanups can be added to any leaf removal option or booked on their own.

  • What's the difference between a fall cleanup and a spring cleanup?

The fall cleanup (November and December) is where we do the heavy lifting: removing the season's leaves so your lawn goes into winter clean. The spring cleanup (February through April) is a quicker visit to get your lawn ready for the season. We clear any leaves that blew in over the winter, cut down ornamental grasses left standing and do a first mowing at 3 inches with the clippings and debris bagged up.

  • Should I cut back ornamental grasses in the fall?

It's up to you. Many homeowners leave them standing for winter interest. If you leave them up, we'll cut them down during your spring cleanup.

  • Is it bad to leave leaves on the lawn over winter?

Yes. A layer of leaves blocks sunlight, traps moisture and can lead to snow mold and dead patches in spring. It also gives voles and other pests a place to nest.

  • What areas do you serve?

Yardworx provides fall leaf removal throughout Lincoln, Nebraska, and in Hickman, Roca and Martell.
